Energy Sector Security Consortium Surpasses Membership Goal Ten Months Early

• More than 200 registered members in two months
• Announces 2009 Annual Summit in Seattle, Washington, Sept 23 and 24

Seattle, WA August 11, 2009 – Energy Sector Security Consortium (EnergySec) announced today that it had exceeded its original membership goals by registering more than 200 active members in its first two months of portal operation, ten months in advance of its original deadline.

“The phenomenal growth of our member-supported organization is an indication that all participants – electric utility asset owners, regulators, government agencies, and industry – see the value of sharing real-time and strategic security information in an open, collaborative forum,” said Chris Jager, EnergySec chairman. “We are now looking forward to exceeding our next membership goal, and to our upcoming summit in Seattle at the end of September.”

EnergySec provides internet-based communication channels that support collaboration between energy industry professionals. These technologies are available nationally. EnergySec also organizes a variety of summits and meetings focused on cyber and physical security, and regulatory compliance.

The EnergySec 2009 Summit will be held in Seattle, Washington, on September 23 and 24. Attendance is free of charge, but preference at the limited-space event is given to electric utility asset owners and invited government and industry partners. On-line registration is available at http://www.energysec.org.
